THE PATH

A little more about me

I had my first computer at the age of 10, that was one running on Intel 80486 Processor and Windows 3.0 OS. Like every other kid, computer was a cool gaming machine to me rather than a "recommended" educational tool. At that time the best computer graphics to me is probably the Windows Screen Saver and a few early pc games running on MS-DOS such as Command and Conquer.

Not many kids of my generation had the chance to get in touch with some of the latest technology such as Internet in China back then. I was lucky. Thanks to my secondary school, I developed myself into a web and interactive designer and won a few awards during high school. I still remember that I was using Microsoft Frontpage, Photoshop 5 and Flash 4 and that was really enjoyable to create something that may seem really dodgy at the moment.

My life had undergone dramatic change towards the end of my high school and I started my journey in Australia. During the time of transition, which is also the time of confusion, I have thought over what I have learned and achieved from high school and comtemplated who I really want to be in the future. I found no answer, but I knew I will find it as time moves on.

I had very little reference and pre-established knowledge of the whole realm of Computer Graphics when I started the Bachelor of Digital Media degree at College of Fine Arts, UNSW because my culture background has very limited connection to this area. Therefore I entered this whole dazzling world like a kid, just like how I got into web design several years ago, surfing through various means of new media. The series of 3D Animation course I did has been very influential in determining my goal. I realised that how amazing these basic utilisation of tools plus creativity can produce some of the most lively and fascinating works including feature films and video games. That is what I want to make, unlike websites which you create on a screen and they stay in the screen. Great CG is created on a screen but they will jump out of screen and grasp the heart of audiences.
